Good Food and Wine Show – July

Coffee Culture

Hostec will be attending the Sydney Good Food and Wine Show held at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour on Friday 16th-18th of July.

This year celebrity chefs Matt Moran and Pete Evans will be attending. A range of courses will also be offerred in cluding a Barista (Coffee Making) skills course. If you miss out on the course offerred at the show, be sure to enrol at Hostec‘s Coffee Culture course, which teaches everything from selecting the right beans and roast to making coffee art.


Hostec hosts NAPSA NSW/ACT Meeting

On Friday, 26 March, the NAPSA (National Association of Prospective Student Advisers) New South Wales/Australian Capital Territory held their annual general meeting at the Sydney Marriott on College Street. The purpose of the meeting was to elect members for this year’s new executive board. Outgoing board member, Michelle Thelning, in coordination with the Training Solutions team at Hostec International sponsored the event. Additionally, the meeting was made even more special with desserts prepared and presented by Hostec Academy students whose classrooms are located within the hotel. ACU Hospitality Program

Hostec Training recently partnered with Australian Catholic University in facilitating and delivering a hospitality program for a selection of international students. Australian Catholic University National, work with international students on exchange and intern programs to study and work in Australia relative to the degree of study overseas.

Hostec training provided a program encompassing the vital skills required for the hospitality industry for students wishing to up skill, qualify and improve their study of English language at Australian Catholic University situated at North Sydney.

On completion of the hospitality course, the Hostec team were delighted to present the twelve students involved in the program, their certificates of completion presented by Michelle Willoughby, ACU’s International Programs Manager and Ian Wilson , CEO of Hostec. The presentation enforced and affirmed to all involved, the pleasure to witness the results of well composed hospitality training and assisting the learning and developing needs of our partners in education, now and in the future.

TAA Upgrade

The Training and Assessment Certificate IV up grade will commence on on the 27th August 2009

It will run for 3 consecutive Thursdays

The Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is the current industry benchmark for anyone responsible for competency based training program design, development and assessment in the national Vocational Education and Training (VET) Sector.

This upgrade course is for those people who already hold the certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training (BSZ98) and who wish to upgrade to the new qualification. Participants will be expected to attend face to face training. provide evidence of current competence and complete out of class assessments.

The content covers the core units of competency, which are new to the TAA qualification.

This month at Hostec we have our Licensee course starting on the 10th August 2009

This course is specifically for those applying for liquor licences for: Restaurants, Nightclubs, Catering Operations, Motels, Functions, Vessels and Hotels.

The Licensee course is made up of four seperate areas. Depending on the applicants previous experience, different combinations of modules wil be required for a successful liquor licence application.
