My name is Yewande! I am from Queens, New York but go to Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. I am studying in Australia for the next four months for a school internship program. I am excited to be in Sydney, because it reminds me of my hometown New York City. There are so many different types of people, foods, and it’s just a dynamic place. I am doing an internship here at Hostec. It is above the Wynyard train station and the office is young and funky with bright green tones and glass doors. I am a marketing intern in the office and I am enjoying learning about Australia, its educational system, and meeting new people.

I am so excited to explore this place. There are so many great beaches, restaurants, museums, and all the great things a big city should have. I will update my adventures through this blog so you can see how the day in the life of a student/intern in Sydney can be.

I must admit to you, I was scared to move to a new city at the other side of the world by myself. But I am so happy, I did because I am growing so much as a person and learning so much about what I want to do with my life. For anyone that is scared to leave their current situation and try something new, I would say to do the craziest things and experience life before it passes you by.

Until next time,

Yewande

A huge effort was made by our fit and fantastic Hostec team who entered the City to Surf on Sunday 9th August, 2009. The team gathered at 7.30am for pre-race preparations before jetting off for the big 14Km journey through the streets of Sydney’s eastern suburbs as the sun was shining bright. The race, which was revealed is the biggest in the world, saw a record number of over 75 000 participants this year.

A big thanks must go out to Michelle Thelning and Andrew Ugarte for putting the team together and organising breakfast before the race and a BBQ in Bronte at the end. They were also the first two team members over the finish line so congratulations.

Approximately 19 of our fun and fit Hostec team members have been busy running and walking about the Sydney shores in preparation for the City to Surf. Hosted Sunday 9th 2009 by the Sun-Herald, the race begins at the intersection of Park and College St in Sydney’s CBD and finishes 14Km later at Sydney’s beautiful Bondi Beach.

With just over a week to go, we are all excited to see who will be the first Hostec team mate to cross the finish line. Our team includes our CEO Ian Wilson and Managing Director Raman Nambiar with a steady variation across all departments involved.

Be sure to keep an eye out for us!
