Hostec Student Testimonials | Hyatt

Ana Claudia Bonuki
Park Hyatt Sydney
Food & Beverage Attendant

Ana is from South America and began work at the Park Hyatt Sydney as a Food & Beverage Attendant in September 2008, 2 months after beginning her Certificate III in Commercial Cookery at Hostec.

"I was attracted to enrolling at Hostec due to the good name it has in the market, and its accessibility. I enjoy learning about the cuisine and cooking styles of different cultures and the skills required to work in a kitchen.

Despite the fact that Sydney is a big city, it still has a lot of nature, clean beaches, parks and people of other nationalities that help the city become more diverse, with a lot of different cultures

Hostec found me work at The Park Hyatt and one of the highlights of my position is being able to work directly with the customer and deliver them a service that always has to be above their expectations".

Narakorn (Kenny) Kittiwajanasakul
Café Sydney
Demi Chef

Kenny is from Asia, and was placed at Café Sydney while studying his Certificate III in Commercial Cookery. After only 8 months as a Commis Chef he has been promoted into a Demi Chef position.

Sydney is one of the most beautiful cities in the world; the weather is great and the lifestyle is relaxed and friendly. During my time here, I have found many people come to Sydney from all around the world so there is good food and culture.

My Hostec course taught me how to be professional in a busy kitchen, and my lecturer was excellent. There are many great facilities, and Hostec also have a recruitment function so it can help students to find a job.

I have used my new skills in my role at Café Sydney, where Hostec placed me. I think this is one of the best cities to train as a chef, and I am working with a well respected Executive Chef. I was promoted to Demi Chef after just 8 months.

Hostec Student Testimonials | Wagamama

Sanjeev Karki
Wagamama
Line Chef

Sanjeev has worked at Wagamama since October 2008 as a line chef in an extremely busy kitchen. He is originally from Nepal.

I really like that my course at Hostec is very practical based. The fact that it was the first college in Sydney to offer the option of Industry Placement made it very appealing, as did the well organised course timetable, and I have found the fee structure to be very reasonable.

I currently work at Wagamama, and love the fast paced environment. They use very strict hygiene practices, and middle management are always very friendly and helpful. I can learn and grow in this environment, and am overall very much enjoying my time in Sydney.
