Why Should I study a RSA course?

Whether you're seeking a full-time career in the hospitality industry, or you're simply looking to work as a casual behind a bar – the RSA course is mandatory for any job description that involves the serving of alcohol to the general public.

You should study a RSA course if you match any of the following criteria:

  • If you are a liquor licensee or club secretary;
  • If you are a staff member involved in the sale, supply or service of liquor in licensed venues regardless of your conditions of employment (part-time, casual etc.). The newest training requirements however do not apply to employees of wholesale, brewer and certain igneron licenses; and this includes volunteers serving liquor under temporary or permanent function licenses.
  • Security personnel, who operate in the course of the person's employment, carry on activities as a crowd controller or bouncer on or about licensed premises or a registered club unless the person holds a recognized RSA certificate.
  • Where anyone, other than the licensee or secretary, in involved in the sale, supply or service of liquor on a licensed venue as part of a promotional activity (eg. A promotional tasting of a new liquor product) that person is taken to be a permanent staff member and must hold a recognized RSA certificate.
