Online Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL Online)

What is RPL?

The Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process is about identifying past and current skills and academic achievements to get you certified.

Hostec offers a convenient online tool to collect evidence of your achievements and measure these against academic accomplishments. The RPL crediting process provides many experienced people in the hospitality and services industries an opportunity to acquire nationally recognised qualification.

Am I eligible?

Yes, if you have been working in the hospitality industry, in an area that conforms to your desired qualification and, you are able to provide the skills and knowledge.

How do I get RPL certified?

This is a simple three-step process:

Select a qualification (listed above) in which you wish to be recognised.
Review the units that make up the qualification and attach appropriate proof of your achievements in each. We recommend you submit a minimum of two documents.
Hostec will notify you of a qualification/recognition you receive based on the documents you provide.

Hostec’s RPL online process takes into account your life and work experiences and industry achievements, measuring these against a nationally accredited criteria, to award you with academic credit and qualifications.

Proof refers to items you can provide which will support your claim for recognition to an assessor e.g. a resume, certificates, performance reviews, or job description and other ways of demonstrating competence which may include the following:

Work samples
A video demonstrating your skill level
Competency conversations
References and support from supervisors
Photos

What does it cost?

The cost depends on the qualification you want to achieve.

Advance Diploma of Hosptiality Management - $1550
Diploma of Hosptiality - $1350
Certificate IV in Frontline Management - $1250
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment - $1250
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (Upgrade) - $350

Navigating the RPL online system

Once you have obtained a username and password through your online application, you can access the RPL program at any time. An assessor will be allocated to work on your application and process your RPL.

Select the units of competency and click the evidence button on the far right hand side of each screen for your assessor to mark against the performance criteria.

All tests must be completed to provide supporting knowledge of the unit. Before all tests, some units of competency will require you to complete a test. This test will measure and ascertain your level of knowledge though the evidence is where your experience counts.

RPL online allows all candidates the tool to communicate with our RPL assessor experts throughout the process to ensure the desired outcome.
